Croatian Alen Halilovic is considered to be one of the greatest prospects in European football. It comes as no surprise that many of the top clubs in Europe are monitoring his progress.

Tottenham were believed to be the front-runners for his signature, after being linked with the 17-year-old this summer. However a deal never materialised and that is supposedly down to a number of reasons. His father, is demanding that his son would be guaranteed playing time and Halilovic’s agent said that his current club; Dinamo Zagreb are demanding too much money. Now according to The Express, Arsenal look set to snatch the wonderkid from under their rivals noses.

Halilovic has already broken a few records in his short time as a professional. He is the youngest ever goalscorer in the Croatian top flight.  The attacking midfielder is also the youngest ever debutant for Croatia, and he is the second youngest person to ever play in the Champions League (The youngest was former Chelsea player Celestine Babayaro when he played for Anderlecht).

Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in the Dinamo Zagreb player, but with concerns about his playing time, it would be unlikely that Halilovic would be guaranteed playing time at a club which has an abundance of world class midfielders. Franck Ribery, Mario Gotze, Thomas Muller, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri and Javi Martinez would all be ahead of him in the pecking order. Tottenham too have many players in these positions.

Arsenal again are covered in that area, but with Arsene Wenger well known to invest in youth and give them a chance, a move to The Gunners doesn’t seem to far fetched for Alen. The Croatian would be in no rush to move however, he is currently getting all the game time he needs at his current club, and is making significant strides with the national team as well. Although he is out of contract at the end of the season, and Dinamo may want to cash in on him while they can.
