Baggies multiply young star’s wage by 12 to deter Arsenal and Chelsea

West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino looks set to sign a new long-term contract with the club.

Saido Berahino, 20, has stood out as one of West Brom’s best players so far this season and also one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League. The club look set to tie down the player with a new long-term contract.

Berahino has burst onto the scene this season with a number of impressive performances, and scored a memorable goal during his side’s victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. He has also become an important member of Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 side. All this led to many of the top sides in the country being linked with a January move for the striker.

Just a few weeks back Chelsea were said to be lining up a £5m move for the player according to The Metro. It would have been the second Baggies young striker to have made the move following Isaiah Brown’s transfer in the summer.

Steve Clarke and West Brom see Saido Berahino as an important part of the present and the future. Due to this they are looking for him to sign a contract that would boost his wage from £850 to £10,000. An increase of nearly 12-fold. The Burundi-born forward fancies his chances of making the England squad for the World Cup next summer, and he is more likely to receive playing time at the Baggies rather than Chelsea and Arsenal.

It is unsure as to how long the contract will be for, but Saido Berahino looks set to continue his promising career with the Baggies for the foreseeable future.
